Whew! It’s been a while…

October 30, 2008

Happy Thursday!  Lot’s of updates…

Prayer Requests:

Chris Lampman– his sister, Rebekah, is in the USA for a short while and then will be returning to Iraq.

Daniel Whittington – one of his family members has diverticulitis and had part of his colon removed.

Carolyn Whittington– she is doing so much better and the baby is doing well! J

Anita Butler– her dad is undergoing radiation for prostate cancer.

Anthony Giugliano– his aunt was diagnosed with lupus.

Cortney Broadwell– she went to the doctor yesterday and Sarah Ann is still happy inside.  Her due date is next Wednesday.  If Sarah Ann hasn’t made her debut, Cortney goes to the doctor Thursday and they will talk about inducing.

Madelyn Mathias– friends of hers who have been married two years are getting separated.

Cameron Glover – his dad is still job hunting

Devin Henson – his dad is still job hunting

Erin Wackerhagen – Dan should be coming home from his 15 months in Iraq in a few short weeks!!

Kathy Henson – morning sickness

Kimberly Freeman – they find out if they are having a boy or girl next week!!

Mike and Ashleigh White – it has been about 10 months now since Carter.  Please keep them in your prayers during this time of year.

Girls’ Beth Moore Bible Study – “Breaking Free”:  It sounds like they had a good turn out on Tuesday.  Check with Madelyn if you are interested in joining.

Upcoming Ministry Opportunities:

Thanksgiving food boxes – The Crisis Ministry at our church supplies needed families with food for Thanksgiving.  They fed 153 families last year.  Last year our class supplied 2 boxes.  With the growth in our class, I think we could do 3 this year.  It costs about $50 to fill a box.  If every couple contributed about $10, we would be able to do this.  I will go shopping Monday, November 10.  We will be collecting money for the next two Sundays.

Operation Christmas Child – The Samaritans Purse collects shoeboxes filled with toys, candy, and toiletry items for children all over the world.  If you don’t have a shoebox, you can purchase a plastic tub in the foyer of the church for $1.25 on Sunday.  We will be collecting boxes on Sunday, November 16.  I love doing this every year.  It doesn’t cost much, especially since we are all so blessed, to make a child smile.

For Sunday, read chapter 4 (CORRECTION: CHAPTER 5) in “Marriage – From Surviving to Thriving” by Charles Swindoll.

Some things to think about:

As the holiday season is approaching, we should probably go ahead and decide a date and location for our Sunday School Christmas party.  If anyone would like to host, please let me know.  We can talk details later!

Trip Sloan from our church is heading up a habitat build after the new year.  We helped with the last build and he would love some help with this one.  I think it would be a great way for us to help out in our own community.  I’ll keep you updated on dates and locations.

We’d also like to do Sunday School shirts again to wear to things like the Habitat Build, helping at Victorian Lakes, etc… I know we’ve been talking about this for a while, so if you have any ideas, please let me know!

We’ll do a new breakfast sign up this week.

Whew!  I think I have bombarded you with tons of info.  Hope you have a great rest of the week and I’ll see you on Sunday.

Thanks Jennifer! What do you think about Friday, December 12 or Saturday the 13th? Anyone else have an opinion on the date?
