VT- thoughts…

April 26, 2007

Hey guys,  tonight I am putting some materials together to talk about at a remembrance for the VT victims tomorrow morning at MTC.  I thought I would post them on here and get your comments.  If you see this tonight (or even later) and have any comments, feel free to share.  If I get it in time I’ll add it to what I’ll say tomorrow.  If not I’d still like to hear your thoughts.  I hope everyone is having a great week and I hope you can see God working in your life.  – Devin

VT – Remembrance 4.26.07

We’re here this morning to remember and honor the 32 people who lost their lives in the tragedy at Virginia Tech on April 16th.

The reasons for which the events of that day expired will never be known, but the book of Matthew tells us that “not a sparrow falls to the ground apart from the will of God.”

The Bible tells us that the Lord Jesus Christ “is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”  It’s hard to picture God being the same before and after a tragedy; on 9/10 and 9/11 or April 15th and April 16th but God is an unchanging God.  God is a rock and his ways are perfect.

But not only is he the Rock but he is also a God of comfort.  His word says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

As we enter into a moment of silence take this time to be still before God and listen to his still small voice.  Lift up the victim’s families and pray that God’s hand of comfort will be upon them.   After the moment of silence I will close us with a prayer.

This is the statement from the family of the shooter:
    Cho Family Statement

The line that caught my eye was “We are humbled by this darkness. We feel hopeless, helpless and lost.”
In addition to the victim’s families and the VT campus, I think the Cho family is also in need of our prayers.
